Choosing the Right Track

Deciding where to race depends on what gets your adrenaline pumping.

Their road course configurations offer a variety of challenges and skill levels. Check their calendar for track days, which are open to the public, allowing you to test your car and driving abilities in a safe and controlled environment.

* Middle Tennessee Dragway: For pure, unadulterated speed, Middle Tennessee Dragway is the place to be. As an NHRA-sanctioned strip, you can expect well-maintained facilities and a serious racing atmosphere. They host bracket races, special events, and everything in between. Whether you're running a street car or a purpose-built dragster, you’ll find a class to compete in.

* Smoky Mountain Speedway: If you prefer the thrill of dirt track racing, head over to Smoky Mountain Speedway. This 4/10-mile oval is known for its exciting wheel-to-wheel action. Expect close racing, plenty of slide jobs, and maybe even a little bit of mud. They have a variety of racing series throughout the season.

Planning Your Visit

Before heading out to any of these tracks, do your homework.

* Check the track's website or social media: Schedules change, events get postponed, and you'll want to confirm the dates and times before you make the drive. Most tracks post details about events, entry fees, and any special rules or regulations.

* Prep your vehicle: Make sure your car is in good working order before hitting the track. This includes checking fluids, brakes, tires, and anything else that might affect performance or safety. Middle Tennessee Dragway and Flatrock Motorclub both have safety requirements, so it's best to check those requirements prior to arriving.

* Bring the essentials: Pack sunscreen, a hat, comfortable shoes, and plenty of water. Racing can be a long day, especially in the Tennessee heat. Also, ear protection is highly recommended, especially at the drag strip and oval track.

* Respect the track and the community: Follow all track rules and regulations, and be respectful of other racers and spectators. Remember, we're all here to have a good time. Leave no trace behind you.

Most importantly, have fun! The racing scene around None is full of passionate people who love the sport, and everyone is welcome.
